The animation game has come a long, long way since The Simpsons debuted back in 1989. Throughout their 27 years of production, the show has incorporated the latest technological advancements to get with the times and trends.

Nowadays, live streaming is big business and it’s just been announced that The Simpsons will be getting in on the action – DURING A LIVE TV SHOW!

That’s right, in an episode which will air on May 15th, 2016, there will be a live, three minute segment, featuring Homer Simpson. The other characters will depart to allow Homer time to comment on the events of the day, as well as answer viewer questions via social media.

According to Deadline, “Marge, Lisa and Bart will turn the show over to Homer, who will take a break from stuffing his face to comment on the events of the day live during both the East Coast and West Coast broadcasts. He’ll answer fans’ questions, which they can tweet from May 1-4 using #HomerLive.

How the darn heck can they do live, reactive animation?” you may ask. Well, apparently, its all achieved through state-0f-the-art, motion-capture technology. Dan Castellaneta (AKA the voice of Homer) will be wired up to the highly-sophistomicated doo-whacky, which will translate his mouth movements into animation while he speaks.

Let’s hope Castellaneta is good at improv – Get excited, people!
