Disney’s Zendaya Is Pegged To Play Mary Jane Watson In Upcoming Spider-Man Flick

Rumours are emerging online regarding Disney’s Zendaya coming on board in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring as Mary Jane Watson- Spidey’s red-headed love interest.

Zendaya was thought to originally be playing a character named ‘Michelle’ in the newest edition of the Spider-Man trilogy, but sources have confirmed the 19 year old will in fact being stepping in to play Mary Jane.

Although the news has yet to be confirmed by Marvel, the speculation over her exact role in the new flick – playing alongside British babe Tom Holland as a young Peter Parker and Michael Keaton as the Vulture – has become a hot topic over social media.

Mary Jane, who was originally played by Kirsten Dunst throughout the Spider-Man saga since 2002, did not re-emerge in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. Mary Jane will play the role of Peter Parker’s crush during his teenage years.

Marvel Comic writer of The Amazing Spider-Man Dan Slott says Zendaya’s role will be great in the newest addition to the Spider-Man films.

Zendaya, who starred alongside Bella Thorne as ‘Rocky Blue’ in Disney’s Shake It Up! from 2010-2013 has since landed the lead role as K.C Cooper in K.C Undercover on the Disney channel.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit cinemas in July 2017.
