The 88th Academy Awards have kicked off in Hollywood and this year’s host, Chris Rock didn’t hold back in his opening monologue.

Immediately addressing the #OscarsSoWhite controversy surrounding this year’s ceremony, Rock asked “is Hollywood racist?” all-the-while delivering some hilarious lines and some cheeky digs at his peers.

“Jada [Pinkett Smith] boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited.”

Talking straight, Rock also addressed the #AskHerMore campaign (focussing on gender equality) and claimed that men are asked less about farshun because they all wear the same thing to the awards ceremony – a tux.
