While Netflix series 13 Reasons Why continues to divide critiques, one thing we can all agree on is that the breakout star to emerge from the original series is Australia’s own Katherine Langford.

Since the contentious series debuted with Langford playing lead character Hannah Baker, her stardom has skyrocketed around Hollywood. The Aussie considers Selena Gomez among her closest friends and has amassed over 6 million Instagram followers. She’s kind of a big deal.

Now, Langford’s name has been thrown into the mix for Joss Whedon’s upcoming superhero flick Batgirl, slated for a 2019 release.

The leak comes from a Reddit user, who is saying a friend of his/hers was asked to create concept art for the film, based on the different women in the running for the role.

“A friend of mine was recently contacted by WB to work on concept art for the upcoming Batgirl film. WB wants to get an actress signed by SDCC so they can make an surprise announcement on stage during their presentation.

I spoke with him a couple days ago and he said that these are the actresses he was asked to develop concept art for,” user ‘DCEUThrowaway89’ said.

He/she then added a list of actresses that include Emma Roberts, Bella Thorne and Langford. The user finished the post, saying, “He won’t tell me why but he believes Langford is currently the frontrunner”.

The four frontrunners for the role are reportedly:

  • Katherine Langford
  • Elle Fanning
  • Jane Levy
  • Margaret Qualley

But the kicker is that Whedon is reportedly looking for an unknown and compared with Langford, actresses Fanning, Levy and Qually are much more established. Langford could be the most likely options but as this all came from a Reddit feed, we’ll take the news as merely speculative at this point. We’ll keep you posted.
