SnapChat 2.0 Is Here – Rears All Other Forms Of Human Interaction Pointless With Game-Changing Update
If there is one app to rule them all, it’s about to become Snapchat.
Snapchat has rebuilt the chat section in an attempt to take on Facebook’s Messenger and WhatsApp apps and it is bloody good. Users are now greeted with a new range of options – including phone/video call capabilities.

While before there was only text, image and video messaging, it looks like Snapchat has come to their senses and decided…
It’s clear the big updates aims to transition Snapchat into a full blown communications tool that includes your daily news, raw stories from major events around the world, updates from celebrity and media outlets, as well as one on one chat with friends. This evolution from a self-destroying image tool to something much-much bigger has been swift and it’s a pretty big deal.
Don’t forget the Snapchat team also added ’SNAPCASH’ last year – a money transfer tool that allows users to easily flick money to each other via their linked bank accounts – (although this feature hasn’t rolled out in Australia yet).
Simply put – these guys clearly want total SNAP and CHAT domination, and they’re on the right path. In a blog post they also noted a whole range of new products would be introduced soon – so they clearly aren’t fucking around.

Video and Audio calls
What it says on the can – Snapchat is now your phone and Skype/Facetime replacement…

Video notes
Video notes are basically reaction Snapchat gifs that you send privately within the chat thread. They appear in a bubble and look pretty cool. Users simply hit the video icon and record a quick loop via their camera and ‘Roberts ya mothers brother’.

Stickers
There’s now 200 stickers that users can access in chat. Much like Facebook’s stickies, the app will pick up on the language in the thread and suggest stickers based on the reactions it thinks you might want to make. Creepy – but cool.

Audio notes
Basically allows you to record short audio snippets which are added to chat. Again, something that’s used a bit in Whatsapp.
Multiple Images And Hyperlinks
There’s a new ability to upload multiple photos simultaneously as well as adding active hyperlinks. This basically means brands and publishers will be able to distribute web content through the app – something that’s not yet possible on Instagram. We’re still not 100% sure how this works, but it could shift Snapchat as an important content distribution tool if applied by brands correctly.
During Video and Audio Calls, you can also simultaneously send camera roll photos to show someone something, and they appear translucent overlaid on the chat window.
Auto-Advance Stories
Snapchat stories will autoplay the next available story in your feed. Essentially when you’ve finished viewing one story – the next will begin playing straight away. Simple but effective.
The Hidden Small Text
Oh yeah – as with any update that features a whole heap of wiz bang new features distractions… the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy have both had a major refresh. What this means exactly… we have no idea, because like everyone else we’re not going to read that vitally important information. We’ll just accept that we’ve probably just signed all our rights away and sold our soul to the devil. Oh well… at least we get cool new Snapchat Stickers!
A major plus of the new update is that it’s now practically pointless ever interacting with humans again.
