Whoopi Goldberg, Kevin Hart and Pharrell Williams have been announced as the latest stars to join the Oscars presenters list, despite the controversy surrounding the lack of diversity in the awards nominations.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this year’s Oscars due to the lack of diversity among the nominees.

Stars including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and director Spike Lee have made the decision to boycott the event.

But today Whoopi was announced as part of the latest batch of names set to present awards on the night.  Kevin Hart, Pharrell Williams, Tina Fey, Benicio Del Toro, Charlie Theron and The Weeknd will also take to the stage during the ceremony.

Whoopi has spoken openly about her views surrounding the Oscars debate, admitting during a recent episode of her show ‘The View’ that she won’t be joining in the boycott.

She said:

“It’s not that the problem is that the people who are nominated are too white.

They’re not looking at a movie and saying, ‘Oh, that’s very white. I’m not going to nominate that black movie.

They’re not sitting there like that! What the problem is, the people who can be helping to make movies that have blacks and Latinos and women and all that – that movie doesn’t come to you. Because the idea is that there’s no place for black movies.”

The awards will be hosted by Chris Rock.
