An Aerobics Icon Is Set To Join The ‘Big Brother’ Household
Marissa Rancan is the latest Big Brother housemate to be revealed and she’s sure to bring some retro energy to the house.
Marissa is a Sydney makeup artist and at 61 years old will be the competition’s oldest housemate. This isn’t Marissa’s first brush with fame – she was one third of The Rancan Sisters: an aerobics trio who gained popularity in the ’80s in Australia.
“We were the first three to bring aerobics to Australia. It started back in 1983 and we were known for our morning TV appearances,” she said in a teaser. “We were like a household name. We had a cult following and would train celebrities.”
Marissa reckons her age will be an advantage in the BB house. “Life doesn’t stop at 60. I’ve had so many different obstacles and challenges my whole life. I’ve got nothing to prove,” she said. “Underestimating me is a big mistake, I’m a dark horse. I’m going to play this game hard. I go 150% and I aim to win.”

Marissa’s announcement as a housemate follows the confirmation that AFL player Daniel Gorringe will also appear on the reality show. The past GC Suns and Carlton footy player said he hopes he’s better at Big Brother than at playing football. “The thing about footy is you gotta be able to get the ball and I just couldn’t get the ball, so I got sacked,” he said in his promo. “I didn’t really believe I could play footy but for some weird reason I believe I can win this.”

The first housemate confirmed last week was country lad Mat Garrick, a 30-year-old sparky from Broken Hill. It’s rumoured that mummy blogger Zoe George, and Akubra hat aficionado Ian W, will also both appear in the upcoming season.
