Nessie, Bigfoot and Leprechauns: Mythical Beasts And Where To Find Them Around The World
Leprechauns – Carlingford, Ireland
Carlingford in Ireland is believed to be the home to the last living leprechauns, who occupy the caves and tunnels within the Slieve Foy Mountain. In 2009 the ‘Leprechauns of Carlingford’ were even afforded protection by the E.U. Commission under the European Habitats Directive- so we know it’s totes legit. They are alive and waiting to be discovered! Just hide your lucky charms.
One of the first sightings of leprechaun life in Carlingford was in 1989, when a leprechaun suit with four gold coins in its pocket was discovered on Slieve Foy Mountain, next to miniature bones. The suit and bones were put in a glass case in a pub for all to see, however no one knows what happened to the gold coins.
