UPDATE: T-Swift speaks and people listen, even Apple. The tech giant has announced, via the Twitter account of Eddie Cue, Apple’s head of Internet Software and Services (and king of dad-style dance moves) that they will be paying all artists, producers and writers during the new platforms three month trial.

The move comes after Swifts open letter this morning where she shamed the technology company for neglecting young musicians, new indie bands and songwriters – original story below.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Taylor Swift has spoken out about online music streaming once again, and it’s clear that her Bad Blood doesn’t lie solely with Spotify.

Overnight, Swift wrote an open letter to Apple, criticising their policy of not paying artists any royalties during the three-month free trial of its new Apple Music streaming service.

In a post on her Tumblr page, T-Swizzle‘s short, yet powerful and eloquent message touches on why she disagrees with Apple’s policy and why she will be holding back her album, 1989, from the new streaming service. Labelling Apple’s decision as “shocking” and “disappointing”, she basically says ‘we don’t expect free iPhones from you, so why do you expect artists to give you their music for free?’

Despite criticising them, she did also describes Apple as, “one of my best partners in selling music” and suggested that it was out of character for the “historically progressive and generous company”.

So it seems that being one of the most successful and affluent recording artists on the planet hasn’t stopped TayTay from using her powers to stand up for the little guys.

“This is not about me. Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success. This is about the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that the royalties from that would get them out of debt. This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field…but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs.”

We tip our hat to thee, T-Swizzy.
