Already wildly speculated by yours truly, but it has now been confirmed that Stranger Things will be back with a second season in 2017, as Netflix have just announced via social media.

Here’s the mysterious teaser dropped overnight:

Since the big announcement, creators the Duffer Brothers told Entertainment Weekly that almost the entire cast from the first season will return to Hawkins, Indiana, however they unfortunately didn’t confirm whether Eleven would be back.

They also revealed four new characters are expected to join the upcoming season.

More good news, is that the second season will go into more detail about the Upside Down. According to Matt Duffer:

“We kinda just peeled back the curtain and revealed a tiny bit of the Upside Down,” Matt said. “So we definitely want to explore a little bit more. There’s a lot we don’t know about the Upside Down at the end of season one.”
