Aussie Ziggy Fans Unite: Here Are The Melbourne & Sydney Tributes Honoring David Bowie

The devastating news of David Bowie’s death yesterday continues to reverberate around the globe as fans and followers post messages and tributes online. As we grieve, remember and celebrate the legendary artist, local tribute events in Australia have started popping up seeking to unite people in the loss of Bowie – an unparalleled cultural inspiration and visionary.

Sydney Festival, which runs from 7-26 of January, has just announced today that they will host a David Bowie tribute event at Hyde Park on the 13th January. Bowie fans are encouraged to come wearing their best Ziggy-inspired fashion for a night of boogying with a stellar lineup of DJs paying tribute to the icon.

The tribute event will take place in the Meriton Festival Village from 6:15pm and is a free event, open to all. More details coming soon! In the meantime, you can find more details here.

For Melbournians looking for a place to gather and pay respect to the Star Man, David Bowie: A Celebration of Life is an open event to be held at Federation Square in Melbourne on the 15th January from 8pm. The Facebook event says:

“The Goblin King is dead. The Thin White Duke is no more. Come to Fed Square and dress like Ziggy Stardust, and let’s celebrate together. Everyone welcome. Invite literally everyone on the planet. Bring the music and let’s all sing together.”
