15 Filters All Dating Apps Should Bring In Immediately
It feels near impossible to establish a romantic connection these days without a little help from an app.
Whether it’s Tinder or Bumble giving you the confidence to right-swipe that hottie from the gym in the chance you’ll match, or if it’s just that person from Twitter or Instagram you recognise and it’s time to shoot your shot, dating apps can help us figure out where we stand with people we already know OR introduce us to swipe-worthy strangers looking to find love… or at least a friend with benefits.
If you’re familiar with the apps, then you’re also familiar with all the awkward interactions they can bring. It could be that you’re swiping through on a lonely Friday night and your ex pops up out of the blue.
Or maybe it’s the fact you can’t deal with matching with ANOTHER James. And then, of course, there’s being super-liked my someone wearing an Indian headdress and a bio that says “Wanna know more? Just ask” with a tongue emoji.
So we’ve decided to come up with a bunch of filters dating apps SHOULD include, because god forbid that you match with another Gemini again:
1. The ability to block your ex’s number/social media profile

Imagine a life where you can happily swipe knowing you won’t stumble across an ex, or even have the ability to block some annoying gal/dude who constantly bombards your DMs anyway. Imagine!
2. The ability to filter out a star sign

I went on one date with a Gemini this year and I’m still recovering.
3. A filter for certain names or initials
if his name starts with a j run sis

This meme exists for a reason.
4. A filter for couples looking for a third

If you’re a couple looking for a third, follow your dreams but for those vanilla bitches like me out there who can’t even date one person, let alone two, let us just filter you out to save everybody some time.
5. A filter for photos older than two years

Sorry, but if you only put up photos that are OVER two years old, you’re lying about yourself or trying to hide something.
6. A filter that only allows you to see people who have dogs

I am of the firm belief loving dogs isn’t a personality trait, but as if we all wouldn’t use and abuse that filter.
7. Filter out bios that solely use emojis

Cool, so you like surfing, beer, running, and the sun? Can you use words?
8. A filter for people posing with sedated animals

Goes without saying.
9. And one for those who have missed the memo on appropriating different cultures

It’s 2019, educate yourself.
10. A filter that filters out Snapchat filters

Don’t take a shot every time I say filter in this article.
I love a Snapchat filter, we all do. But it ain’t my real, day-to-day face, bro. Let’s just accept that and move on.
11. And one that points out who the person is in the group shot

Three group photos, no single shot and I’m supposed to know who tf you are? C’mon now.
12. Filtering out any people who just use car photos

WHY????
13. Filtering out bios that say “if you want to know more? Just ask!”

WHAT AM I MEANT TO ASK YOU??? YOU HAVE GIVEN ME NO INFORMATION.
14. Filtering out all the people holding fish
Every dude’s dating app profile really be like:
Picture with fish
Picture with car
Shirtless pic
Picture with small human
Some oddly off putting and very cheesy but supposed to endearing bio about making a girl his wife
“THE KID IN THE PICTURE IS NOT MINE”— Emm (@emmbueh) October 19, 2019
It’s amazing once you leave an Australian city and travel to a rural area, every second person is holding a dead fish like that’s meant to make them attractive or something.
15. And a filter for if the person has air-con or not
Tinder & Grindr need to introduce a "has air-con" icon to profiles.
