Everything We Know About Chaotic Mess Jesse From ‘MAFS’

It’s only episode two of Married at First Sight, and we’re already low-key obsessed with the chaos Jesse Burford is bringing.

The 30-year-old marriage celebrant from Western Australia was first introduced to us on Monday night. During his introduction, Jesse spoke about how some people may see him as “arrogant” or “cocky” at first glance. “The confidence comes from being an individual. Fight the power,” he said in a piece-to-camera while pumping his fist. He also shared the massive list of icks he has about women. Lovely!

On Tuesday night, the experts paired up Jesse with 31-year-old kindergarten assistant, Claire, and some sparks flew, but some icks did come up with his new bride, namely her interest in crystals and astrology. While Jesse was put off at first, he eventually decided to “respect her passion.” So things are looking up??

ERRRR, WRONG! On the way to their honeymoon, the newlyweds had a few spats after Jesse shushed Claire multiple times, which triggered the new bride to shut down completely. Can Jesse mend this (two-day-old) marriage? Stay tuned!

Until then, here’s everything we know about the fussiest groom ever, Jesse:

During his introduction in episode one, Jesse can be seen playing an electric guitar. In episode two, he reveals that he used to be in a heavy metal band.

According to his Star Now profile, Jesse was the frontman of a band named Anchored from 2009 to 2015 and from 2010 to 2013, he was a bass guitarist for Paradise in Exile (which kind of fits his current honeymoon situation).

In the same introduction, Jesse made it a big point that he is a marriage celebrant outside of MAFS. This is true, and he has a website and everything – jessebcelebrancy.com if you wanna book him.

Jesse reckons it was the boringness of weddings that inspired him to become a celebrant. “Where was all the fun? Where was the audience? Where was the laughter? That’s when I knew that this was the job for me,” his website bio reads.

The website also features a bunch of testimonials with the latest one uploaded on March 2022. “He [Jesse] was quick to respond, always checking in and made the process SO EASY and reassuring,” the review said. Hopefully, Jesse will bring these communication skills into his marriage with Claire.

But weddings aren’t the only thing he does, flicking back to his Star Now account, Jesse has a bunch of experience MC’ing different types of events, including bingo nights, business events, and adult strip shows… spicy!

Most recently, Jesse has been the Western Australian Manager for Quiz Meisters Trivia.

Although Jesse’s MAFS introduction was quite full-on and intense, his Flatmates.com profile says the complete opposite. He describes himself as “super chilled, considerate, honest and down to earth.” Maybe Jesse and his list of turn-offs are all just a facade to make good TV? What a concept!

Speaking of his turn-offs, we know that the list includes crystals, CrossFit, star signs, girls who are addicted to their phone and social media, motivation quotes, women who call him honey or sweetie, and many, many more.

Hopefully, he can move past his huge ick list because Claire truly deserves the world!
