Taylor Swift has just released an updated recording of Red, as part of her plan to rerecord her six studio albums — and it’s making us feel like we’re 21 years old all over again.

Taylor has included in the Red (Taylor’s Version) tracklist an extended 10-minute version of her iconic breakup ballad ‘All Too Well’, and for Swifties that means one thing and one thing only: Jake Gyllenhaal (who the song is rumoured to be about) is, once again, public enemy number one. Taylor has even updated the music video, adapting the devastating song into a short film starring Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink.

The film is nothing short of a masterpiece, detailing the breakdown of a tumultuous relationship.

In the video, Dylan shares a striking resemblance with how Jake looked when he was rumoured to have briefly dated Taylor in 2010.

If the rumours are to be believed and ‘All Too Well’ is about Taylor and Jake’s short-lived relationship, then the new lyrics shine even more of a light over what went down between them. The song positions the protagonist as dating an older man, who made her feel inferior, as she sings, “You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine, and that made me want to die.” At the time they reportedly dated, Jake was 29 while Taylor was about to turn 21.

Taylor goes on to say that “I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age,” which again, feels like a dig at Jake, who is now 40 years old and currently dating 25-year-old model Jeanne Cadieu.

Taylor also alludes to Jake not showing up to her 21st birthday party, even after she introduced him to her family. “You who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes, sipping coffee like you’re on a late night show. But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come, and he said, ‘It’s supposed to be fun turning twenty-one.'”

And that’s not even covering the scarf, which Taylor apparently left at Jake sister’s Maggie’s place and Jake kept it. Once again, this checks out as you can see a picture here of Jake wearing a scarf that’s identical to Taylor’s.

In short, it’s a lot! It’s not a great time to be Jake Gyllenhaal right now. In other news, John Mayer needs to get TF ready for the ‘Dear John’ recording to drop.
