Jamie Doran was certainly a polarising character on this year’s The Bachelorette.

He came in dressed up as a firefighter (his occupation) holding an adorable puppy and seemed to be the perfect package. But from the very first cocktail party, Jamie’s time was fraught with drama, and he was quick to become this series’ stage-5 clinger.

Wearing his heart on his sleeve and never shying away from the fact he was there for Angie and no one else, Jamie lost friends when breaking the bro-code, got people offside when he told Angie that frontrunner Carlin was only there to be the 2020 Bachelor, and his time came to an end last night when Angie gave him the boot – but not before he asked if they could one day get coffee in the outside world.

We spoke to Jamie about his time on The Bachelorette and here’s what he said:

On being aware that he came across a little full-on

“I don’t regret a thing and I think I’m stronger from the experience. It was such a high-pressure environment, it was very competitive.”

“Sometimes I don’t recognise that guy on screen who I’m watching but I don’t regret anything. I had Angie’s back from the day I was in there, so when there was locker room talk I went and told her and that may have backfired, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I would’ve been a little less intense to put it lightly, but that’s about it.”

On the “bro code”

“The bro code was made by Timm but it was made in a mob mentality. I didn’t support it. I felt that the ethos of the show was for the guy to approach the girl and I followed that formula and the guys weren’t happy about it. But as Ryan says, he didn’t go on there to be part of the ‘Best Friends Club’ he went on to be a part of The Bachelorette. I was there for Jamie and I saw that through right until the end.”

On the claims that he heard Carlin say he wanted to be the 2020 Bachelor

“I spoke the truth. That’s nothing against Carlin, he’s a good guy. But I know what I heard and I speak the truth. What I heard more than once is him saying that. There were other people when he said it one of the times, so I’m not sure what’s going on there. I don’t know if it’s ‘what’s said in the mansion stays in the mansion’ business, but I know what I heard so I told Angie to her face.”

On his relationship with Timm

“Timm is my best friend in the whole world. He is a rough diamond and he’s so caring. I’m rooting for him, I’m in his corner.”

On who he wants to win Angie’s heart

“Timm is the guy I want to win. But I feel Ryan is really suited to Angie. But I think Alex is a really dark horse, don’t discard Alex, he’s sliding in under the radar big time!”

On Haydn’s claims that he’s a “paid actor”

“That’s hilarious! A few of the guys believe I’m a paid actor. I’ve heard rumours recently that I work at Seaworld as Superman! But no, I’m not an actor. Some of the things that make me laugh the most are the acting claims and the memes, they give me a good laugh.”
