It’s OFFISH. Netflix’s wildly successful series 13 Reasons Why will return for a second season. YAAS!!

Since the news dropped, there’s been a whole host of speculation of what could (and should) happen in the new season.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Bryan Yorkey spilled the beans on what we can expect from the new season. Meanwhile, Netflix has also tweeted some extra details on what is to come.

Here are some of the big questions about season two answered:

Will Hannah Baker be in it?

The second season will pick up a few months after the first season ended. But according to Yorkey: Hannah will feature in the season in some capacity, saying:

“I have heard from a number of people, “Well we heard all her tapes so her story is done,’”

“We saw Hannah’s version of events unfold, but there’s a lot more to be told also about those characters. To me, there’s a tremendous amount that I still want to know.”

Will the series be structured the same?

It sounds like the series will follow a similar structure, however, we will be introduced to a new narrator.

“We’re definitely still weaving past and present [timelines]. And there’s voiceover in every episode, but the voiceover is no longer Hannah,” he said.

“The voiceover and the stories that are being told bring us into the past and back to the present much in the way that Hannah’s voiceover did in Season 1.”

What themes will be explored?

A major feature of the next season will be exploring toxic masculinity and the rape culture that creates it. According to Netflix, the season will explore “the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls and women in our culture – and what we could do better in both cases”.

What will happen with Jessica?

One character that suffered an enormous level of trauma without much support during the series was Jessica. The streaming channel tweeted that Jessica’s story will continue as she “tries to recover and return to normal life”.

Will there be more tapes?

Netflix has confirmed that there are “no more tapes,” however there will be a similar method of communication utilised to that of cassette tapes via a different technology.

“The tapes are still obviously on people’s minds, but there is a different sort of analog technology that plays a hugely important role in Season 2,” Yorkey said.

“There will be a new piece of technology for 13-year-olds to Google and try to understand what it was“.

Will Bryce be charged for his crimes?

The most frustrating cliff-hanger that season one left wide open was that Bryce wasn’t held accountable for his sexual assault. But Netflix have noted that:

“Bryce will hopefully get what’s coming to him”.

When can we expect the next season?

The second season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why is planned for 2018.

Argh!! So far away….
