If you’ve spent the last ten years wishing Operator Please’s ‘Just A Song About Ping Pong‘ would receive the praise and acclaim it deserved, now is your time.

There’s a growing campaign on Facebook to get the tune included in 2017’s triple J Hottest 100. Yaaas! Let’s do it fam.

If you need a refresher, here’s 2007’s freshest banger:

The page posted their plea for the track to be included in this year’s Hottest 100 on its tenth anniversary.

“While there were many great songs this year, I really urge you all to vote for Operator Please’s 2007 smash hit single, ‘Just A Song About Ping Pong’.

“Despite it being 10 years old, it is still my favorite song of all time and Operator Please are objectively the greatest band in the world, so it has my vote.

There probably won’t be an option to vote for it on the triple j website so you’ll have to punch it in manually I guess. As for it’s ineligibility, if we all vote for it they have to include it in the countdown, pretty sure it’s against the law if they don’t.”

As far as eligibility goes, it’s likely to be excluded from the vote as we can only assume the track hasn’t been played on triple J this year. Just like the campaign to get Taylor Swift’sShake It Off’ to number one, there was zilch chance as it didn’t get any airplay.

It also doesn’t help matters that triple J has a policy against voting campaigns, which usually ends up with the song getting banned. Just like poor Justin Bieber’s Where Are U Now‘ a couple years ago, the Canadian pop star was backed by a betting campaign that started hashtag #Bieber4Hottest100 – resulting in the track becoming ineligible.

‘Just A Song About Ping Pong‘ already charted in the Hottest 100 in 2007, coming in at a number 27. There’s not much chance of the song making any real waves this year, but a girl can dream.
