Just try to tell me you don’t get chills when you listen to ‘The Climb’. It’s actually impossible to not enjoy this absolute masterpiece because it is just too fucking good.

Today I want to spend my energy exploring why it’s one of the most underrated tracks of all time.

Back in 2009, we were not only graced with Hannah Montana: The Movie’(thank you universe) but from this iconic film we were also blessed with the sensation that is Miley Cyrus’ ‘The Climb’. I mean WOW.

‘The Climb’ is the power ballad we all need but do not deserve. How lucky we are that the stars aligned and brought us this musical gem to keep forevermore. To pay our respects, let’s talk about exactly what makes this track so phenomenal.

I could go on for hours but here are just a mere eight reasons why ‘The Climb’ is absolutely extraordinary.

1. The Climb ‘Gets’ You

Straight off the bat, the song reels us in with the relatable feelings of self-doubt. WE HEAR YOU MILEY, SING IT GURL:

“But there’s a voice inside my head saying,
“You’ll never reach it.”
Every step I’m takin’
Every move I make feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin'”

I’m exposed, I’m disarmed, I’m hooked.

We can all feel vulnerable together and ‘The Climb’ will hold our hand through the hard times. It’s OK to cry.

2. It Soothes The Soul

If you’re feeling anxious about wtf you’re doing with your life (ammirite) well good news as this song is therapeutic as fuck. I feel calmer just thinking about the lyrical genius that is ‘The Climb’:

“The struggles I’m facing
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes might knock me down,
But no, I’m not breaking

I may not know it,
But these are the moments
That I’m gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep goin’,”

Can’t you just palpably feel yourself getting stronger? More motivated? More cool, calm and collected?

That’s the work of a masterpiece.

3. It’s Full Of Golden Life Advice

Why pay for life counselling when you could just listen to ‘The Climb’ on repeat for hours at a time? You’re welcome!

One thing you learn from the song is that life is not just about getting from point A to point B, life is the journey.

It’s a freakin’ journey people!!! Holy hell I have learned so much from this song. PLAY IT AGAIN.

…but at the end of the day, “it’s the cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimb”. Ya know?

4. Musical Prowess

That bit near the end where the music cuts and then the violins come back like “da da da da”.

I mean fuckkkkkkkkkkk THAT is MUSIC.

5. What A Lit Metaphor

While it may not be clear for everybody upon first listening – when it hits you it realllly hits you. ‘The Climb’ is a metaphor!!! For life!!!

How about that. This song is just so bloody insightful, life has never been the same. Life is better now. Cheers to ‘The Climb’ for helping us understand this crazy ‘uphill battle’ we call life.

6. It’s The Perfect Karaoke Solo Ballad

Fun Fact: the song was originally written in the third person, but changed to the first person for its debut in the Hannah Montana movie to make it more personal and evocative. And didn’t that just fucking work a charm because this is some soul-baring shit we have here.

This, I can confirm, makes it the perfect choice for your karaoke solo ~*moment*~ which you must seize!!! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of singing/shouting ‘The Climb’ in public so get that on your bucket list, my friend.

7. An International Superstar / Aussie Eurovision Representative Covered It

If it’s good enough for Guy, it’s good enough for everyone. Nuff said.

8. Just Fucking Listen To It.

It’s all there.
