VICTORY: Rebel Wilson Just Won Her Defamation Lawsuit Against Bauer Media
After an insanely lengthy defamation trial, which we honestly thought would never end, Rebel Wilson has come out on top winning her defamation case against Bauer Media.
The all-female jury of six today returned a unanimous verdict, that the lawsuit would end in favour of Wilson. The three-week trial has been a media circus, as Rebel sat amongst the proceedings day after day. It’s been grueling to watch.
Her case was that articles posted by Bauer Media publications in 2015 – including in Women’s Day, OK Magazine, Women’s Weekly and New Weekly – presented her as a serial liar, and this had damaged her career and the ability to get work.
Speaking to the media, Rebel said:
“Far too often I feel the tabloid magazines and the journalists who work for them don’t abide by professional ethics. Far too often I feel their conduct can only be described as disgusting and disgraceful.
“I’m glad, very glad, that the jury has agreed with me and by their unanimous overwhelming verdict they have sent a very, very clear message.”

The case drew in international media and tbh has just been bizarre. From cameos by David Letterman, Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy, Anna Kendrick and Isla Fisher to confusing assertions Rebel is related to Walt Disney.
