As Married at First Sight gets set to air its final two episodes of the season — the reunion party and couch sesh with the experts — viewers are left wondering whether any of the experiment’s matches have actually become genuine couples.

Out of the 12 couples this year’s season created, only two couples decided to stay together at final vows: golden couple Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton, along with high-flying power couple Melinda Willis and Layton Mills.

The two last couples standing had vastly different MAFS journeys, with Tahnee and Ollie smooth sailing from the very beginning, while Melinda and Layton hit their fair share of icebergs… including one named Harrison Boon.

Melinda and Harrison clashed throughout the experiment which caused tension in her relationship with Layton over how they each resolve conflict, and Layton revealed at the final dinner party that he wasn’t in love with Melinda. But he shared his true feelings at final vows, telling Mel: “It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all and I am falling in love with you.”

Ollie and Tahnee’s final vows were equally moving, as Tahnee broke into tears as she told Ollie, “Coming into this experiment, I was looking for a best friend. I feel so lucky to have found that and I’m so grateful to have met you.”

But now, it’s time to answer the big question looming over the season: did these two couples go the distance? Let’s find out!

Shocker! Tbh, if this couple didn’t go the distance, I’d be shooting Channel Nine an invoice for time wasted watching this season because let’s be real: Tahnee and Ollie were the only serious match. The rest were clearly coupled up just for lols or drama — sorry Melinda and Layton!

In an interview with WHO, Tahnee revealed they’re taking it slow, as since they’re a young couple, they have some time up on their sleeves regarding marriage and kids. “Not right now. It’s something we’ve discussed though. Right now, I’m just living my life and if that happens for me one day, then I’ll be blessed.”

Tahnee also shared that she felt a lot of weight from their love story basically carrying this season. “It’s a lot of pressure from people putting us up on a weird pedestal because they see us on TV and they’re like, ‘Oh my god they’re so cute, I want them to work out’,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

She’s not wrong! In the most exciting news, Ollie has been spotted uprooting his life from Perth to move to be with Tahnee in Bondi. These two lovebirds are the real deal!

Layton and Melinda have confirmed they’re still together, although they’re currently still living in seperate states. “If this is going to continue moving forward, I’d probably make the move to Brisbane – I’ve got family up there as well, so that doesn’t bother me too much,” Layton told 9Entertainment.

Melinda added that the couple have gone from strength to strength since the experiment concluded. “Everything’s been really, really good. It’s a whole new Mel and Layton, and I feel content and I feel secure and really comfortable,” she said.

“I see Layton in my future, whatever it is. Is it happily ever after? I mean, it feels like it right now.”

Cute, right? Maybe! There’s also a rumour floating around that the couple are headed for heartbreak. “Melinda and Layton are technically still together, but their relationship hasn’t blossomed like she’d hoped since filming wrapped,” a source told Yahoo Lifestyle. “They’ve been doing long distance but it’s fizzled a little bit as they’re both so busy running their businesses.”

They continued, “As of right now, there’s not many sparks flying. Some of the cast think it’s only a matter of time until Layton ends things.” Oop!

This is from a mysterious ‘source’ so take that with a grain of salt. Either way, stay tuned for the reunion dinner to see whether Layton and Melinda present as a united front, or if they let Harrison meddle in their relationship… again.

History tends to repeat itself, as do absolute gronks like Harrison.
