Shawn Mendes’ new documentary In Wonder has just hit Netflix around the world, unveiling a new side to the pop star that we’ve never seen before.

However, after watching this entire documentary, I still had a lot of questions.

Let’s begin, shall we?

#1. Where On Earth Was His Vine Career?

In case you didn’t know, Shawn Mendes blew up through the popular, now dead, social media app Vine. However, there was little-to-no mention of this in the documentary.

Other than a very brief montage and an interviewer mentioning it in passing, In Wonder largely skips over this integral part to Shawn Mendes’ career. Does Shawn Mendes hate his Vines? Where were they? I simply need to know.

#2. How Much Would That Vintage Shawn Merch Cost?

In the documentary, we’re taken back to Shawn’s childhood. As we’re taken down memory lane, we see his first-ever concert. At the age of 15, Shawn performed in front of a small auditorium in Toronto to a crowd of approximately 100 people.

It’s an incredible scene, especially considering the stadiums that Shawn fills now. But, my question is, where on earth are these vintage Shawn Mendes T-shirts?

What in the Redbubble is this?

How much are they? I am not proud of the amount of money I’d be willing to spend to get my hands on one of these…

#3. Is Shawn Mendes’ Sister Just Incredibly Popular At School?

Shawn Mendes

Mid-way through the documentary, Shawn Mendes introduces us to his family, which includes his parents and his younger sister. According to his mum, they can barely keep her home long enough to watch a few movies. And while yes, I am curious to know what movies they are watching as a family, I’m more curious as to how popular his younger sister is. Like, she must be the Queen B of middle-school, right?

#4. So, How Did Shawn & Camila Actually Start Dating?

This documentary wouldn’t be an adequate one without talking about Shawn’s relationship with Camila Cabello. And even though In Wonder went into detail regarding the first time they met, there wasn’t much detail on the years that followed.

In Wonder explained that Shawn and Camila were friends for approximately four years before they started dating. So, I want to know, how on earth did they transition from friends to lovers? Shawn talked about how all his songs — including the infamous bop, ‘Treat You Better’ — were written about Camila, but I need information regarding the catalyst that brought them together. Did it happen while writing ‘Señorita’?!?

#5. Where Do I Buy One Of These Manifestation Journals?

From practising for hours-on-end, to writing in his manifestation journal, the grind never stopped for Shawn Mendes. Ultimately, through persistence, he was able to sell out his hometown stadium by repeatedly writing in his manifestation journal: “I will sell out the Rogers Stadium.”

Like, can I get this from Typo?

So, Shawn, I’m going to need to know, where on earth did you buy this notebook? Is this some-sort of magic notebook? Asking for a friend.

#6. Does Shawn Mendes Own Another Jumper?

Throughout In Wonder, Shawn Mendes comes off as such a supportive boyfriend. In most of the scenes, Shawn can be caught either humming a Camila Cabello song or wearing her merch. In fact, Shawn more-often-than-not wears a jumper sporting Camila Cabello’s single ‘Liar’.

We stan a supportive partner.

#7. How Much Weed Does Shawn Mendes Smoke?

Very little of this documentary goes into Shawn’s relationship with recreational drugs. However, there is one moment that does. In a candid interview, Shawn says, “Drive around a suburb, lay on a soccer field, smoke a joint and stare at the stars with my friends and, like, eat some beef jerky. Like, really small-town thoughts. Those things are like, I think that I miss that a little bit now.” Can you elaborate more Shawn? Do you stan edibles or…

#8. Is ‘Always Been You’ Going To Be A Single?

The final quarter of this documentary follows Shawn as he makes his fourth studio-album, Wonder. But, throughout all the studio footage, there’s one song in particular that sounds the most inventive and that’s ‘Always Been You’.

You can tell Shawn played a role in the production for a lot of this album and for that, we’re super excited. But, ultimately, we’re just praying this becomes a single — the snippets sound too epic to pass up.

Shawn Mendes: In Wonder is streaming on Netflix, definitely go check it out if you know what’s good for ya. Speaking of Shawn Mendes, remember when he roasted Taylor Swift’s lyrics?
