Carrie Bradshaw Aidan Shaw And Just Like That Sex and the City

The ‘And Just Like That’ Trailer Explains Major Carrie And Aidan Storyline

Grab some stilettos and a sparkly dress, because the premiere of Season 2 of And Just Like That is almost upon us. The Sex and the City spin-off is one of this year’s most anticipated series, and the latest trailer has finally answered a big question: Why on earth is Aidan Shaw back in Carrie Bradshaw’s life?!

Look, last season was a bit of a downer. One of the biggest storylines revolved around the death of Carrie’s husband Mr Big, and how she came to terms with it.

But in Season 2, I hoped we’d see Carrie embark on some adventures around New York City (especially the, ahem, Sex part of Sex and the City), as she started to move on. And at the beginning of the trailer, she seems to be embracing her new life.

We see her organising her closet, indulging in some self-care, and even rediscovering her kitchen. “I’ve repurposed my kitchen. Did you know that stoves aren’t just for storage?” she quips.

However, the trailer has revealed that she isn’t ready to let go of her past completely.

Everything we know about Aidan’s And Just Like That appearance:

Near the end of the promo, Carrie is seen sending an email to her ex Aidan. It’s only on screen for a split second, but never you mind: I’ve studied the screenshot in great detail to give you the goss.

“Hey Stranger…Remember me? IF this is still your email, it’s me, Carrie,” it reads. “Was just thinking about you the other day… And I wondered how you were doing. So how ya doing?”

It’s safe to say that his email address hasn’t changed, because the trailer then shows the pair catching up in a restaurant. “Sitting here with you, it’s like 10 years just – [snaps fingers],” he says, before the pair start laughing.

I’ve got mixed feelings about Aidan’s reappearance, because, on one hand, he’s the worst. But on the other hand, it gives the show some (much-needed) Sex and the City nostalgia.

What’s in store for Charlotte and Miranda on And Just Like That?

The trailer also gives us a glimpse into Charlotte York’s family life, as she struggles to maintain a healthy work-life balance (we’ve all been there). After downing a few too many shots, she ends up stumbling home like a rebellious teenager.

Finally, there’s trouble in paradise for Miranda Hobbes and comedian Che. During last year’s season finale, Miranda followed Che to LA. However, it isn’t the fairytale she hoped for, as she struggles to adjust. In a serious scene, she questions if she really knows Che at all.

Kim Cattrall’s cameo as Samantha Jones:

Sadly, we weren’t blessed with a glimpse of Kim Cattrall’s return as Samantha Jones. But don’t worry, there are still a few things we can tell you about her cameo.

Apparently, the character is introduced back to the franchise in a simple way. Variety reports that Samantha, who now lives in London in the SATC universe, speaks to Carrie over the phone.

SATC costume designer Patricia Field has also helped Cattrall get back into character as the outspoken publicist, dressing the star for her brief appearance.

Ooft. There’s so much to unpack, and I’ve got my popcorn ready.
