SHAKE IT OFF? Katy Perry Wants To Say Sorry And Make Amends With Taylor Swift
Life is like a plastic bag drifting through the wind. and who the bloody hell knows what will happen next?!
Within a couple of days, Katy Perry has done a full 360 on her views of long-time nemesis Taylor Swift. Just days ago she was calling out the singer for “character assassination” in an interview with NME Magazine.
But hold the fucking phone, cos Perry has since had a change of heart. During her live-stream over the weekend, speaking to Arianna Huffington she said she wanted the feud between her and Swift to end.
“I’m ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent,” she said. “I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it’s actually… I think it’s time.
“There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world. I love her and I want the best for her, and I think she’s a fantastic songwriter, and like, I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, ‘Yeah, we can do this.
“Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does, and maybe she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but like, I just… I really, truly, want to come together, and in a place of love and forgiveness, and understanding and compassion.”
WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED.
This is a pretty huge backflip for Perry, who launched her new album off the back of simultaneously bad-mouthing Taylor. However, Swift did return serve by releasing her entire music library on Spotify, at the exact same time as the release of Perry’s ‘Witness’.
Shady ladies.
BUT WAIT…Katy isn’t even done yet. She’s gone a step further to make amends, even altering the lyrics of her alleged diss track ‘Swish Swish’. In a recent performance of her new tune, she changed the original snarky lyrics from “Don’t you come for me,” swapping it for “God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl”. It’s a weird one, but sure.
