There is no golden age of music that has slapped harder — or will slap harder — than the slew of dance hits released in the ’00s.

I’m talking dance floor anthems like ‘All This Love’ by The Similou and who can forget ‘Flaunt it’ by TV Rock. For a short span of time, it was electronic, dance and house music that dominated the charts and the dance floors of almost every nightclub in Australia with countless absolute bops.

'00s dance music

I understand dance music existed before and beyond the ’00s, but there was something magical about that decade. Dance music in Australia has never been responsible for more bangers, with many hits from homegrown talent like Sneaky Sound System, The Presets and The Potbellez. It was truly a time to alive.

These tunes transport me straight back to getting loose at some seedy nightclub, straight after downing a couple of bottles of Smirnoff Black and getting my mate’s dad to drive us home — with, of course, a compulsory stop off at Macca’s on the way. Those 20 nuggets won’t eat themselves.

I challenge you to listen the below ’00s tunes and not get PTSD flashbacks to the time you almost died after doing too many Jägerbombs.
