For those of us that live and breathe all things makeup, Sephora is our Disneyland. Stocking all the beauty brands we stan, it’s the kind of place where minutes turn into hours.

A trip to Sephora is no usual shopping ordeal and it often provokes a range of emotions.

Here are the 10 emotional stages of shopping at the makeup haven:

#1. Anticipation

I’ve made the life-changing decision to go to Sephora today. I’m just going to pick up a new lip pencil. No biggie. But I may as well have an innocent browse while I’m there.

#2. Excitement

As I walk in I’m greeted by rows and rows of makeup… and the staff know me by name.

#3. Bargaining

I maaaaaay as well look at the lipsticks to match the lip pencil. That makes sense, right?

#5. Awe

Wow. The artists’ makeup is amazing!

#6. Panic

OK, I’m also getting a liquid lipstick and a contrasting eyeshadow. Why the hell not?!

#7. Surprise

Is that the new Huda palette I just saw on Instagram…

#8. Submission

The sales assistant tells me this is the first shipment available in Australia! I’m buying ALL THREE.

#8. Shock

Right, I’m done and heading to the register! Wait. The total bill is HOW MUCH?

#9. Regret

Oh boy, I did not budget for this at all.

 #10. Acceptance

BUT LOOK AT EVERYTHING I HAVE.

This is how I’ll sleep knowing I just spent a whole month’s rent on makeup I did not need one bit.
