These Songs Are Turning 10 In 2023 And I Feel Like I’ve Just Aged 100 Years

2013. The year that proved that the apocalypse wasn’t happening, and that 2012* was a massive scam.

*2012, as in that random-ass disaster movie that convinced us that the world was going to end that year, and we were all freaking out. Weird times.

But look at us now. We’re out here, living our best lives in the 2020s. And if the world had ended, we wouldn’t have the iconic, catchy bangers of the 2010s.

The 2010s were definitely an interesting time for music. We had a resurgence of boy bands, a moment where most songs had an EDM drop (I’m looking at you Zedd and The Chainsmokers), and the invention of Pure Heroine by Lorde — which literally changed my life and my Tumblr aesthetic.

As we near closer to the year 2023, we had to celebrate the amazing music of our past! Trigger warning… this list may make you feel super old!

Here are all the hot tracks that are turning 10 in 2023:

1. ‘Royals’ by Lorde

Lorde as an artist was a whole cultural reset. Many people began their teen angst phase when Pure Heroine dropped on the scene.

2. ‘The Way’ by Ariana Grande Ft. Mac Miller

This song is definitely what broke Ariana away from her Nickelodeon image. Remember when she was dating one of the Janoskians?

3. ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ by P!nk Ft. Nate Ruess

If you worked at KFC, this song will haunt you forever.

4. ‘Get Lucky’ by Daft Punk Ft. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers

This song is what I envisioned the 2020s would be like. Couldn’t have been further from the truth.

5. ‘Wrecking Ball’ by Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz era is definitely one of the biggest pop culture moments in history. ‘Wrecking Ball’ and its impact cannot be talked about without bringing up the music video. Absolutely phenomenal. Also, 10 years since her Bangerz era? Bye.

6. ‘Suit & Tie’ by Justin Timberlake Ft. Jay-Z

There’s something about this song that gives it boujee vibes. Like, if rich people had a theme song, it would be this.

7. ‘Clarity’ by Zedd Ft. Foxes

Zedd’s songs almost follow the same formula, but ‘Clarity’ featuring The Foxes is what truly made him take off with his EDM drops and NGL, we don’t hate it.

8. ‘Hold On,We’re Going Home’ by Drake

‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ is a Drake classic, with its smooth beats and its sing-songy Drake moments. Best song to listen to after a night out, when you’re actually going home, for real.

9. ‘Best Song Ever’ by One Direction

The world is overdue for the next British boyband.

10. ‘Still Into You’ by Paramore

‘Still Into You’ is Paramore’s most popular track according to their Spotify page, and for good reason:  the song is just pure euphoria. It’s a certified banger!

11. ‘Bound 2’ by Kanye West

When the song first dropped it was so iconic, but then came the music video and it was ruined. Kim Kardashian is a gorgeous woman, but I don’t wanna have to watch PDA the whole time. At least we have the Seth Rogan version as an option.

12. ‘Chocolate’ by 1975

Just like Lorde’s Pure Heroine, the 1975 was a massive cultural reset for some teens in the 2010s. ‘Chocolate’ was one of those indie songs that you’d hear blasting at a Typo store and on people’s Tumblr blogs.

13. ‘Work Bitch’ by Britney Spears

Every spin/HIIT teacher’s fave song. You better work, bitch!

14. ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry

As annoying as this song can get, you cannot deny the visuals that ‘Roar’ is giving. Katy Perry had a high budget for this banger.
