The list of hopefuls in the running to score gongs at the 2016 Academy Awards have landed. Ang Lee, Guillermo del Toro , John Krasinski and Academy President Cheryl Boone announced the names and movies in Los Angeles in the early hours this morning.

Frontrunner, with an impressive twelve noms, is Leonardo DiCaprio‘s latest flick the ‘The Revenant’ while Aussie’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is a close contender with an impressive ten. Other movies scoring points across the board were The Martian with seven noms, Bridge Of Spies with six and both ‘The Big Short‘ and ‘The Danish Girl’ collecting three a piece.

All eyes are on Leonardo DiCaprio though as fans hype up the prospect that he could be fourth time lucky to take out the Academy’s ‘Best Actor’ golden man. He’s a good chance with bookies like CrownBet offering only 1:16 for him to get up this morning.

That being said he’s likely to face stiff competition from the likes of Eddie Redmayne for his transgender performance in ‘The Danish Girl‘ which is paying 12:00 behind Michael Fassbender’s role as Steve Jobs.
