Bachy’s Abbie & Dean From MAFS Are Beefing On Instagram Via Screenshots
In 2020’s weirdest feud to date, Abbie Chatfield from The Bachelor is Insta-beefing with Dean Wells from Married At First Sight and they’re both posting receipts.
The topic of the argument? Err, feminism. More specifically, Clementine Ford, an Australian feminist writer and author of successful books Fight Like A Girl and Boys Will Be Boys. The argument began after Abbie published a photo on her Instagram taken with Clem, which led to Dean posting a comment, comparing Clem’s writing to umm…white supremacy faction, the Ku Klux Klan.
Abbie posted the comment to her Instagram story, adding, “Just a reminder that @deanwells compared feminist literature to the KKK as an attempt at a hot take. Uneducated and dangerous.”
Dean then posted Abbie’s Insta-story and added his reply, calling Clem’s writing “crazy, man hating literature” and getting confused over what exactly a hot take is.
It gets messier from here.
Abbie and Dean started posting their private DMs to each other, trying to expose one another. Dean brought up some controversial tweets that Clem had posted, and showed Abbie’s laughing reply.
However, Abbie then posted her full reply which showed her explaining the context of Clem’s original tweets which he conveniently edited out.
Dean then posted the full exchange, adding “Apparently it’s funny and acceptable because it’s satirical.”
Abbie continued to post screenshots of her and Dean’s conversation. Ooft. There’s a lot to follow here.
Then for some reason, The Bachelorette star Jamie Doran inserted himself into the beef by backing up Dean and accusing Abbie of “double standards” and “trolling”. He attached a screenshot of Abbie posting a GIF into a Facebook group regarding incorrect rumours Jamie was dating Chelsie McLeod. I don’t know what this even means???
Abbie reposted Jamie’s story, added the below comment and was equally confused:
After dropping all the screenshots, Abbie recorded her response to Dean and Jamie, saying they both, “can’t stand a woman who is 15 years younger than them [who] can articulate themselves better.” Dean did the same, posting a video saying, “First of all I don’t know Abbie Chatfield, I’ve never met her in my life, all I know is she’s friends with Clementine Ford.” OK!
So, what does Clem actually think about all this? She took to her Instagram stories (while hosting a cooking class, of course) to allege that Dean often slides into her DMs and joked, “Dean babe, you’ve got to get over me. It’s never going to happen.” Is the beef over now? Who the hell knows.
Since their reality TV debuts, Abbie appeared on the upcoming season of Bachelor In Paradise, became a columnist for Popsugar and hosts a podcast aptly titled It’s A Lot. Dean recently starred on Dancing With The Stars and was eliminated after the first week.
