From Vibrators To Light Therapy: All The Things We’re Buying From Adore Beauty This Lockdown

Picture it: the year is 2021, we’re rapidly approaching August, and millions of Australians are stuck in lockdown. Oh wait, sorry that’s just reality.

If we told ourselves this mid-2020, we’d probably laugh in that scared ‘are you kidding me?’ way, eyes wide, abrupt giggle a little bit too loud, skin paling by the second.

However, there’s not a lot we can do about it right now, so of course in order to feel something again, many of us have taken to treating ourselves every now and then in lockdown – if only because saying hi to the postman every day is the only human contact we have.

If you’re anything like me, the only serotonin boost you’re getting right now is by ordering beauty products on Adore and scoffing the Tim Tam that comes with the package down faster than a genie can ask you for three wishes.

So what is it about lockdown that makes us all go a little nuts when it comes to online shopping?

“The fact we’re all shopping for beauty products and homewares when literally no one can see us or our homes (except when you’re forced to have your camera on during work calls) is a bit of a contradiction,”  Amy Clark, Senior Editor at Adore Beauty said. “But if anything, it speaks to the need to just feel good in any way we can right now. Even if that way is receiving a sext from Aus Post that your order is on its way.”

So from hair scrubs to vibrators, here’s what everyone has been buying off Adore Beauty this lockdown.

1. KEVIN.MURPHY FRESH.HAIR Dry Shampoo 250mL

What better time to train your hair into not needing to be washed every second day? “This is, hands down, the best smelling dry shampoo I’ve ever used,” Amy told us. “Save for when washing your hair feels like it belongs in the Too-Hard Basket.”

2. Maison Balzac Amber Burner

Considering we’re spending SO much time at home, you may as well make your makeshift office space smell nice and look good. “If you prefer burning oils or wax melts over candles, this glass burner will take your space from a questionable four to a solid nine out of 10,” Amy said.

3. Lumira Glass Candle – Cuban Tobacco Large

Though, if candles are more your jam, this is a must-have in your place to transport you straight from WFH depression into an inspiring daydream about a tropical holiday.

4. Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt 250ml

If you’re missing your hairdresser, why not treat yourself to a little luxurious scrub and emerge from your bathroom salon fresh. “I’ve been through several tubs of this shampoo/scalp scrub hybrid and nothing else comes close. It smells so bloody good, and leaves you with your cleanest, silkiest hair ever,” Amy told us.

5. Aspect Probiotic Mask

This product is great for those navigating dry, inflamed or sensitive skin (OK, @ me next time) and will have you looking beyond fresh for your next Zoom call.

“THIS is the mask you pop on if you want to wake up looking like you actually get enough sleep, snack on kale and guzzle seven litres of water a day,” Amy said.

Say no more. I have actually been wasting my time trying to drink adequate water, eat kale, and eliminate sugar and I still look like death has knocked upon my door. BRB: on my way to buy this ASAP.

6.  Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse – Ultra Dark 120ml

Remember being outside in the sun? Those were the days. If you’re in Sydney, chances are we won’t be emerging from our prison until winter is well and truly over, so why not emerge from lockdown looking like you just stepped off a boat in Greece?

7. Trophy Skin RejuvaliteMD

In case you couldn’t tell by my commentary above, my skin has been going THROUGH IT this lockdown and I have been obsessively researching at-home treatments.

“At-home LED tools are about as close as you’ll get to a professional skin treatment in lockdown,” Amy told us. “Are they as powerful as clinical-grade machines? No. But if you’re spending a lot of your time lying down anyway, might as well be under this device to get the skin health benefits of red, blue, and amber LED light therapy.”

8. Vush Stimulation The Rose 2

Apart from being depressing because, you know, we’re house confined, lockdown can also make being horny unbearable for single people. Or coupled people, who am I to judge!

With 10 vibration levels and the fact you can plug this bad boy into your laptop to charge, what else do you need? A man? I doubt it!
