Al From ‘MAFS’ Pranked His Mum On ‘Kyle & Jackie O’ & Hasn’t She Suffered Enough?
Al Perkins won over Australia during his stint on Married at First Sight for being the wholesome larrikin the show needed.
On MAFS, Al was married to Samantha Moitzi, but while their relationship didn’t last long, the nation’s undying love for this man will last a lifetime. From his penchant for shoeys, naive approach to life and relationships, and his kind nature, Al was a standout contestant in the 2022 season.
But if we cast our minds back to when Al was first introduced, he was a 25-year-old still living at home with his mum who did all his cooking, cleaning, and laundry. In short, Al’s mum was an angel and you know what she doesn’t deserve? She doesn’t deserve to be pranked on Kyle and Jackie O.
Unfortunately this is exactly what happened on Wednesday morning, as Al called up his mum to tell her he had gotten a random woman pregnant.
The segment began with Al moaning about how his mum often grills him about not impregnating any of his sexual partners. “She doesn’t want you having a baby any time soon, particularly out of wedlock,” Jackie summarised.
Noting this was a trigger for his mum, of course Al phoned her to pretend he has just impregnated someone. She was in the middle of driving, so he asked her to pull over. “I’ve got something to tell you Mum, I don’t know how to say this. I got a girl pregnant,” he began. “Who?” she asked. “A girl I met once,” he replied, adding “It was a one-night random.”
Al’s mum then launched into her son. “Are you an idiot? You have destroyed your life completely,” she yelled. “You didn’t tell me the whole time and you tell me now!”
His mum queried if Al was sure the baby was his, before asking how many times he had sex with this (fictitious) woman, and whether he wore a condom. “There is no solution to this, you’re a father,” she said. At this stage, Al probably should have stopped the joke.
As if the situation wasn’t tense enough, Al went on to reveal he was going overseas soon and the pregnant woman would have to stay with Al’s mum. She then started swearing at her son, as she became more and more distressed.
Finally… Jackie and Kyle butted in to say it was all a prank. “I can’t believe this,” Al’s mum replied. “I’m shaking, I’m confused, I’ve got emotions running through me.”
This poor woman.
It’s not a pleasant listen! Pranks can be fun, but this ain’t it, Al.
