Because trash TV never sleeps, an American adaption of UK reality phenom Love Island is already in the works.

Inspired by the series success internationally, including our own version in Australia, Deadline reported that CBS has scored the US format rights to the British reality series, from ITV Studios and Motion Content Group.

Love Island has been a massive success overseas,” said CBS’ Sharon Vuong.

“It’s currently seen, or about to premiere in several European countries as well as Australia, and we’re thrilled that ITV has partnered with us to bring their most successful show to American television.”

The UK version is already popular among American viewers, who have been able to view the OG series via streaming platform Hulu.

Vuong continued, “Love Island is more than a pop sensation; this series has generated compelling ‘sociological think pieces’ in major publications here and abroad.”

We can’t help but be afraid America will destroy the show like it has done with countless other international TV adaptions before. Most recently, MTV debuted the American version of Ex on the Beach, and it was grim.

Either way, we will still hate-watch the heck out of it.
