Typically shrouded in a mist of mystery, American Horror Story has released its first teaser image for Season 6 and it’s pretty damn cryptic.

The American Horror Story Facebook page unveiled teaser artwork for the upcoming FX season, and it appears to be the number ‘6’. This could mean many things, and fans have gone into a confused frenzy.

The number 6, obviously makes connotations to the devil – BUT this is also the sixth season, so it could just be paying homage to that. There is also a question mark within the graphic which means…well, who the fuck knows.

That hasn’t stopped people guessing in the comments:

What we do know is that the season will be set in two different time periods, but primarily in the present.

As creator Ryan Murphy said at TCA in March:

“The interesting thing about the next season is that we’ve been working on two ideas at once, which we’ve never done.”

Returning cast members will include Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer.

The last season, called ‘Hotel’ was outstanding so let’s just hope the newest season is up to the test.
