Australia Is Obsessed With The ‘Ford Ad Girl’ & There’s A FB Page To Prove It

She divides opinion, but I think we can all agree, Australia is kind of obsessed with the Ford ad girl. As if this needs explanation, this is the actress featured in the Ford Australia car advertisements, known for her cheeky persona that has gained an insane following.

There is even a ‘The Ford ad girl’ Facebook page and it has almost 4K likes. The ‘girl’ in question is actress Ngaire Dawn Fair, who has previously appeared in Neighbours, Rush, Winners & Losers and The Slap.

The actress told News.com.au that her role in the Ford dealership commercials has been a career milestone.

“It just started out as one little ad a few years ago,” the actress said.

“I didn’t think Ford was going to be quite the gift that keeps on giving like it has been. It’s been amazing and I’m so grateful.”

There’s now a dedicated FB page for discussing every ad she appears in and even debating her changing hair styles and wardrobe. A hot topic on the page seems to be whether her character comes across as too smug.

Not all of the conversations are positive on the forum; the page fosters a large chunk of trolls insulting the Ford star. The actress admitted that she avoids online comments – don’t we all, tbh.

“I don’t look at any of that stuff in case someone says something mean,” she said. “I’d just get upset.”

Fans will be happy to hear that Fair still has more Ford commercials on the way.

“We’re going ahead for another year which is fantastic,” she said.
