Australian Survivor: Heroes V Villains has just begun and our blood is already boiling over some comments thrown around in the Heroes tribe.

To give you a quick TL;DR, animal activist Rogue Rubin said some vile things in a conversation with fellow tribe member, Nina Twine, the daughter of Survivor OG queen, Sandra.

Rogue asked where Nina was from, to which Nina shared that she was from North Carolina. Nina then began to describe where North Carolina was located in the US to Rogue, but instead of going along with the conversation, Rogue got confrontational and told Nina, “Because I live there half the time, I don’t need you to explain it like I’m an idiot.” Woah.

Nina then awkwardly smiled back, saying “Oohhh, gotcha.” But Rogue doubled down with her condescending approach, telling Nina, “I work in the US all the time.” Okay!

And then all of a sudden, totally unprovoked, Rogue told Nina, a black woman, something extremely cooked. “I’m more African-American than you are, you need to understand that,” she actually said aloud.

Rogue was born in Cape Town to a Zimbabwean mother and a South African father.

Regardless of her background, Rogue’s words were incredibly problematic, considering that Nina is one of the only people of colour on this year’s Survivor, and the only black contestant.

Many viewers of Monday night’s premiere have shared their shock over Rogue’s words, with people calling for her to be voted off ASAP.

Fans of Survivor have also taken to the show’s Instagram account to call for producers to address the comments made by Rogue.

Rogue’s social media accounts are clear of any Survivors content — it’s almost like she never participated in the show. She’s also disabled comments which typically means the person is preparing for some major backlash.

It’s extremely disappointing that disgraceful comments have been thrown around on the very first episode of this year’s Australian Survivor. I’m really hoping that Rogue is held accountable for her actions and as for Nina, I hope she wins the whole season.

The queen (aka Nina’s mum Sandra) put it perfectly.

Adios mate, indeed.
