The Best Tweets From The Hectic ‘Australian Survivor’ Premiere
Australian Survivor made its glorious return to our screens last night. I am ready. I am prepared. My loins, they are safely girded.
This season brings iconic Heroes and Villains from past casts and unites them with new players. Monday night’s episode saw the return of iconic castaways like Hayley Leake, Shaun Hampson, George Mladenov, and (my own personal hero) Shonee Bowtell.
The Heroes and Villains competed against each other in a rewards and immunity challenge. Sadly, there were casualties as Jackie Glazier had to leave the game after suffering a collar bone injury in the first challenge.
The Villains tribe were sent to tribal council and even though they were offered the chance to skip sending anyone home in light of Jackie’s departure, they chose chaos and sent home Real Housewives star, Anjali Rao. IMHO, this was a big mistake! Huge! She seemed to be bringing a lot of drama and funny commentary!
It’s worth mentioning that the high vibes of the premiere were momentarily ruined by a scene between two players on the Heroes tribe: newbie Rogue Rubin and returning legend, Nina Twine. In a baffling conversation, Rogue could be heard telling Nina “I’m more African-American than you are, you need to understand that.”
Oh I need her to GO ASAP.#SurvivorAU pic.twitter.com/xwJOBGpV4S

Aside from her comment coming across as racist, Rogue also spoke to Nina (the child of a literal Survivor legend, Sandra) in such a demeaning and condescending way. It was horrifying.
How this person ended up on the Heroes tribe is something I’ll never understand. It’s time for Survivor fans to manifest a swift elimination for Rogue — racism should never be tolerated anywhere, let alone showcased on a national TV show.
Imagine already coming out as the show racist this early on when there are literal Sky News journalists on there with you ? #SurvivorAU

The premiere was a real emotional rollercoaster and as usual, the tweets were the best part.
