If you haven’t read or heard of the “Avril Lavigne died and was replaced by a clone named Melissa” theory that has been circulating around the dark web, then you clearly don’t spend enough time on the internet.

We get it, you have a life.

Here’s the TL;DR on the Avril is Melissa theory:

Avril tragically died after the release of her second album, but luckily her good friend Melissa Vandella was able to step in and replace her. Melissa and Avril were close friends before Avril’s tragic demise, and Melissa was able to be the perfect doppelgänger.

Well as it turned out, our very own KIIS FM got the bottom of this. Jackie O decided to ask Avril in an interview if she laughed at the clone rumours.

“Some people think I’m not the real me, which is so weird!” Melissa Avril replied. “Why would they even think that?”

Hmm, IDK, sounds like something a clone would say.

There’s only one way to solve this IMHO: Has anyone ever seen Melissa and Avril in the same room?

My thoughts exactly.
