The Baby Shark Song Is Being Turned Into A TV Series & This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
In the same vein of novelty anthems ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Crazy Frog’, the ‘Baby Shark’ song does my absolute head in — but there’s no denying it’s wildly popular, having been viewed on YouTube almost 3 billion times. Yikes.
The beloved kids’ tune and its accompanying video clip became a phenomenon in 2018 and this week it’s been announced that it’s going to be turned into a TV series on Nickelodeon.
Ugh, I just can’t.
Nickelodeon is collaborating with the video’s producer Pinkfong for a series that will feature the many aquatic creatures seen in the clip. The rest of the details are pretty hazy.
Executive vice-president of Nickelodeon animation Ramsey Naito told Deadline: “At the heart of any popular piece of content is a terrific character,” he said, “and we have a great opportunity to further explore the world of Baby Shark and follow this family through some great animated adventures on Nickelodeon.” Errrr, sure.
Haven’t the children suffered enough?
*Quietly sings* ‘Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.’
GODDAMNIT!!
