The ‘Barbie’ Movie Cast Has Dropped And Of Course, It’s Become a Meme

While Australia was sleeping, the world shifted. You might not have noticed, but life just became a little more plastic — and it’s fantastic.

After what has felt like several years (but more like a handful of months) of anticipation, the Barbie movie has released its first full trailer. And you know what? I’ll never be the same.

The trailer introduces our gal Barbie, played perfectly by Australia’s own Margot Robbie, and her plastic fantastic world. She has her boyfriend Ken (Ryan Gosling), along with a whole gaggle of other Barbies and Kens played by an iconic line-up.

The Barbie trailer is even more perfect than I could have ever imagined:

Along with this earth-shattering trailer, the film has also released cast posters. When it comes to ensemble casts, I can’t think of a time when a movie was stacked with more beloved people.

These are the Barbies: Transparent’s Hari Nef, Sex Education’s Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, My Mad Fat Diary’s Sharon Rooney, The Crown’s Emerald Fennell, Insecure’s Issa Rae, SNL’s Kate McKinnon, Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, and many more.

The Kens are portrayed by: Gosling, Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu, Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa, One Night in Miami’s Kinglsey Ben-Adir, Grace and Frankie’s Scott Evans, and Superbad superstar Michael Cera… as the lesser known Allan. Will Ferrell will also star, along with Helen Mirren coming onboard to narrate.

Due to the movie posters being so iconic — and not to mention, easy to replicate — the cast announcement has given birth to a delightfully unhinged new meme.

People on Twitter are rushing to adapt some of their favourite celebrities and characters into Barbies and Kens.

This nod to Ariana DeBose’s BAFTAs rap is simply incredible.
