We Deep-Dived Into The ‘Beauty And The Geek’ Partner-Swapping Rumours
Beauty and the Geek may have wrapped up this week, but the drama hasn’t stopped. Some fans believe that two partners did a cheeky swap post-production, and we have all the evidence to prove — and disprove — this spicy theory.
Being a huge follower of BATG since episode one, I really wanted to immerse myself in the stories of the couples, their character development, and their relationships. One couple that I thoroughly enjoyed watching was Michael Gebicki and Tara Schwarz because their love story just seemed so pure and innocent, but now fans are speculating that Tara could potentially be seeing someone else… another geek!

A massive potential plot twist might’ve just been revealed as rumours swirl that pro-gamer geek, Samuel Mitchell, went on a European trip with Tara. Fans have hollered that the pair’s Instagram feeds and dates match up to a potential summer vacay together.
It’s unclear if the pair went with or without Michael, or if they were holidaying just as friends.
Sophie Monk originally paired Sam with social media influencer, Angelique Ngyuen, who was defs my fave beauty this season.
But anyways, it’s time for us to try to connect the dots to see if this trip really happened.
Here is some of the evidence that suggests the partner-swap happened:
Starting off with this super suss reel posted by Tara: the reel has a variety of quick little snippets of beautiful Spain, but it also captures a man with a horizontal striped shirt.

In the first couple of seconds, we see the back of a man wheeling a large suitcase.
Anyways, here’s the cheeky quick screen cap:
The first thing I notice is that it doesn’t look like Michael, as the man does not have that iconic Shaggy look. Secondly, the shirt looks extremely similar to the one that Sam wears all over his Insta feed.
Here’s the same stripped shirt on Sam’s Instagram feed. You could almost say it’s his signature shirt and honestly, he rocks it.

In the same reel, Tara also does a cheeky selfie on a balcony with a mystery man. Again, the guy’s hair and height do not match Michael’s vibe!
Another major piece of evidence that supports this theory is the pair posting a pic of the same mural in Berlin. Tara posted her pic first on June 9th.

BIG JINKIES! It almost seems that these posts were strategically paced to make sure rumours would not swirl before the premiere of Beauty and the Geek, but the evidence is clearly there.
But the plot thickens:
One of Tara’s other holiday pics suggests that Michael was present during the trip. In a cute “weekend in Amsterdam” post by the beauty, two figures that look like both Michael and Sam can be seen in the background.
I genuinely think Tara and Sam could’ve just gone as a couple of besties, despite the whispers of a saucy partner-swap.

Unfortunately, Michael hasn’t posted anything about a potential trip to Europe with Tara or Michael. His feed is more of a Thailand vibe, sprinkled with obligatory festival looks.

This is not the first partner-swap rumour:
This isn’t the first time that Sam has been pulled into a partner-swap rumour. During the show, fans speculated that he had ditched Angelique for pro-dancer, Tegan Burns, after the gamer posted a selfie of them on the gram. Tegan was paired with Anthony Farah, the most adorable Harry Potter fan in Australia.

As Season 2 came to a close last night, Sam took to Instagram to express his appreciation for both Tara and Tegan in an honestly adorable Instagram post.
“Tara and Tegan, you are both such amazing human beings, and I cannot even begin to explain how both you and everyone have changed me for the better.” AWWWW!

Some of the comments on this seemingly innocent post seem a bit cryptic. Air hostess (and another one of my Season 2 faves) Emily McCarthy asked Sam if the post was a pic from Europe and Sam replied “Maybeee”.
They then continued to exchange comments, seemingly poking fun at So Dramatic’s report about an alleged partner-swap.
Sam has taken these rumours and turned them into comedy gold. Most recently, he reposted a story from 2021 Beauty And The Geek alum, Kiran Rao, calling out the Daily Mail, So Dramatic! and New Idea for publishing the partner-swapping claims.
Whether Sam and Tara are dating or not, this partner-swap conspiracy theory has me, as Angelique would say, “shook as a chook” because Tara and Michael were super-duper loved up throughout the show. Sam and Angelique were also one of the first pairs to connect romantically and snog.

Neither Sam, Michael, Tara or Tegan have confirmed any of the dating rumours and tbh, I have an inkling everyone went to Europe as good mates, and the cast had archived all their pics. Only time will tell hehehe…
