We finally have some good news. Yes, in 2020. What a trip. Old school reality series Beauty and the Geek is being revived by Channel 9 and in equally exciting news: Sophie Monk will host.

Announced at the Nine Upfronts earlier today among the network’s lineup for 2021, the show will be a reimagined version of the OG reality series which matches beautiful people with nerds as they battle for a cash prize. The original series first aired back in 2009 on Channel 7 and had Bernard Curry as host before he replaced with James Tobin. The reality show lasted six seasons and ended in 2014.

Monk is a perfect fit for this show, as she’s known for taking the piss out of people who stereotype her as a ‘dumb blonde.’ It’s unclear whether Monk will still host Love Island, which will also return in 2021 but this time will be filmed on the sunny Gold Coast, instead of overseas.

The rebooted Beauty and the Geek season will be produced by the people behind Married at First Sight, so that promises high drama. Let’s hope that this rebooted series is a little less sexist than its predecessors.

Bring on geeky gals and himbos. It’s what we deserve!
