This Friday, June 10 is Dia de Portugal (the National Day of Portugal) and to celebrate Oporto are shouting $12 flame grilled chickens for three days straight – uh, yes por favor!
Dia de Portugal is celebrated each year on June 10 to commemorate Portuguese poet Luís de Camões, who was famous for writing Os Lusíadas, an epic poem that celebrates Portuguese heroes who discovered a new sea route to India – obviously, this was before budget airlines.
Dia de Portugal celebrations often include friends and family meeting at street parties to spend the day eating, singing, eating, drinking, and, of course, eating. For Oporto founder Antonio Cerqueira, who moved from Portugal to Bondi to start the first Oporto in 1986, Dia de Portugal is best spent under the sun with friends enjoying juicy flame-grilled chicken all day long (usually, Antonio’s shout).
Oporto has been sharing the traditional flavours of Portugal with Aussies for over 35 years and is celebrating Dia de Portugal this year with fresh, flame-grilled chicken, served up from 8-10 June for just $12!
To celebrate Dia de Portugal and get some delicious Portuguese flame-grilled chicken in your mouth, all you need to do is sign up to Oporto’s Flame Rewards program for free via the app and visit your local Oporto between June 8-10.
