Billie Eilish Claps Back At The Reporter Who ‘Outed’ Her On The Red Carpet
Fans went wild after Billie Eilish came out during an interview on the red carpet with Variety, but the video wasn’t as wholesome as it seemed.
The singer slated Variety for outing her on the red carpet, when the interviewer mentioned comments Billie had previously made in a November profile.
“Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11am instead of talking about anything else that matters,” the ‘Bad Guys’ singer wrote on Instagram. “I like boys and girls, leave me alone about it please literally who cares stream ‘What Was I Made For’.”

The original interaction on the red carpet was praised by fans, after Variety asked if she’d meant to “come out” in her profile interview.
“No I didn’t,” Billie replied. “But I kind of thought, ‘Wasn’t it obvious?’ I didn’t realise people didn’t know. I just don’t really believe in it. I’m just like, ‘Why can’t we just exist?’ I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I just didn’t talk about it. Whoops,” she added.
“But I saw the article, and I was like, ‘Oh I guess I came out today.’ Okay, cool. It’s exciting to me because I guess people didn’t know, but it’s cool that they know. I am for girls.”

Fans hit out at Variety after Billie Eilish’s Instagram post.
After Billie revealed she was displeased by Variety’s question on the red carpet, fans called out the reporter’s behaviour on X.
“It’s important to respect individuals’ privacy, and celebrities deserve the same consideration. Kudos to Billie Eilish for addressing the situation with grace and asserting her boundaries,” one person pointed out.
“Wow, that must have been a frustrating experience for Billie Eilish. It’s important for interviewers to focus on the artist’s work and not invade their personal life. I hope she continues to receive the recognition she deserves for her talent and music,” another added.
“Disappointing moment. Privacy matters. What steps do you think media outlets should take to ensure respectful and inclusive interviews?” a third chimed in.
What did Billie Eilish actually say in her Variety profile?
In Billie’s Variety profile, she talked about how she’s attracted to women, but doesn’t specifically put a label on her sexuality. “I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well. I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real,” she told the publication.
“I have a deep connection with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
While some people believe that Billie came out herself, if the singer didn’t feel ready to confirm or label her sexuality, that’s rough. Hopefully, this whole situ will stop fans, interviewers and online trolls from jumping to conclusions in the future.
