It was heavily rumoured that Dami would score the gong to be Australia’s contestant and earlier this evening some media outlets had even jumped the gun to report the news. While the Korean-born ‘Superlove’ singer might seem like a random choice, she sure has the pipes to pull off a killer techno-ballad and is famed for her spectacular fashion- she is practically a Eurovision winner in waiting.

What better way to get to know your Aussie rep than her X Factor Audition tape, circa 2013:

Other names that were rumoured to compete included Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena, Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy and even (tell him his dreamin) Shannon ‘Nolsey’ Noll. Soz, Nolsey.

Im is represented by Sony records, the same label that supplied last year’s Aussie representative, Guy Sebastian. The company is said to have a close relationship with the Eurovision competition’s local representatives.

The X-Factor alumni has her work cut out for her, to match Guy Sebastian much-loved Eurovision debut with his catchy number ‘Tonight Again‘. Sebastian ended up landing a very noble fifth place and the song charting all the way to number one in several countries, including at home.

The competition will be held in Stockholm this year. Australia will be competing from the semi-finals, fighting it out against 41 other nations.

You can check it out from 13 May on SBS. Bring it on! But #NeverForget…
