Yet another Britney Spears documentary has debuted overnight, this time it’s Netflix’s Britney Vs. Spears.

The film examines Britney’s troubled past which led up to her conservatorship put in place in 2008 — which has allowed her father, Jamie Spears, control over her finances, career, and even her personal life. The documentary features interviews with several key players in Britney’s life leading up to the conservatorship, including former manager Sam Lutfi and rumoured ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

While the film itself has received mixed reviews, one viewer who definitely isn’t a fan is the documentary’s subject: Britney Spears. In response, the pop icon expressed issues with the documentary dredging up the past, while not showing her in the most positive light.

She took to Instagram to write that, “It’s really crazy guys … I watched a little bit of the last documentary and I must say I scratched my head a couple of times [shrugging emoji] !!! I really try to disassociate myself from the drama !!! Number one … that’s the past !!!”

“Number two … can the dialogue get any classier [shrugging emoji] [crying emoji] ??? Number three … wow they used the most beautiful footage of me in the world !!! What can I say .. the EFFORT on their part !!!”

Apparently an earlier version of the caption read “I watched a little bit of the last documentary and I hate to inform you but a lot of what you heard is not true !!!” It’s important to note that fans have long suspected that Britney herself does not have control over her Instagram account — due to the conservatorship — so there’s a chance that her statement could have been posted by a different party.
