Cat On Her Dramatic ‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Walkout & What She Really Thinks Of Nick Cummins
It only took three episodes of Bachelor In Paradise for us to see our first walkout, with Cat Henesey-Smith storming out before the rose ceremony even ended.
Cat left after Richie and Nathan gave their roses to other ladies, and was visibly upset by the decision after forming what she felt was a genuine connection with Richie during her short-lived stint on the show.
It led to Cat crying in her confessional pondering what was “wrong with her” after putting in the effort to try and form connections on the show.
In the present day Cat has well and fully put Fiji behind her, and we chatted to her about her time on Bachelor In Paradise.
On watching the episode back:
“I’ve been dreading (watching back) but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. There was a lot more footage of me breaking down, I was in that bathroom for over an hour. It was still obviously not that nice to watch back on.”
On deciding to put herself on the Bachelor franchise again:
“I wasn’t stressed about going into this again — I was like, it can’t get any worse. I wanted to go in there and be positive and not say anything nasty. I just went in there hoping I could turn Australia’s opinion of me around a little bit.”
On Richie’s rose decision & whether she’s heard from him since:
“Richie and I spent a lot of time together in the leadup to the rose ceremony. I was definitely attracted to him and I got vibes from him but clearly, in the interview, he didn’t feel the chemistry! Which is cool, it was slim pickings. I was just trying to give it a go. I just didn’t see his rose going to Cass, it did take me by surprise to be honest.”
“I haven’t spoken to Richie at all. I kinda thought he’d message me after and be like ‘hey, I hope you’re alright’ because he knew I was really upset and I thought he and I were good enough mates that it’d be like ‘no hard feelings, hope you’re OK’ but I haven’t heard a peep from the guy.”
On Brittney getting Nathan’s rose & Littney’s overall antics:
“I didn’t know Nathan and Brittney had spent some time as mates together, but she’s a bloody hoot, she’s such good value. She is literally like that all the time! She is bloody hilarious.
“She got so sunburnt and her chest was literally peeling redness and she was like ‘oh shit, I hope plastic doesn’t melt!’ because she has fake boobs but she’s just so full of one-liners and she’d just say the first thing that came to her head.”
On who she was hoping to see in Paradise:
“I was hoping I’d see Luke from Sophie’s season and Davey as well. Davey came in the day after I left which was a bit of bummer.”
On what Brooke said about the Honey Badger:
“It’s so shit of him to tell you [Brooke] and not the other girls. It’s not fair and it’s not nice. I feel like if that was me I would’ve told the other girls what happened. Because it’s an emotional rollercoaster and to know that information and let other people go through more weeks of filming, it’s intense, I felt bad.”
And on her opinion of Nick Cummins:
“Oh my God I think he’s an absolute dick, he went on there for a publicity stunt and failed miserably, it did nothing for him. He wasn’t interested in getting to know anyone, you’d have a conversation with him and he’d be looking past you. It’s unfair for the girls.
And he targeted me saying ‘apparently you’re here for your jewellery label’ and it’s like, mate apparently you’re here for a publicity stunt?! It’s 2019, like I’m open to anything and I’ll go with the flow and if I’m into you, I’m into you.
But everyone comes in here knowing they can get some sort of positive out of it, whether that’s an Instagram following or an app… I feel like people are so narrow-minded.”
On whether we’d see her back on another Bachy series:
“No, I have a boyfriend! I met a guy shortly after filming, I’m super in love, he’s bloody epic and I’m very happy not to be doing another dating show!’
