Charlie Sheen Is Set To Reveal His Personal Battle With HIV Today
All round ‘winning’ dude Charlie Sheen is set to announce some sad news today, when he reveals he has been HIV positive for over a year. Until today, the condition has been closely guarded and kept under wraps.
According to TMZ, this is about to change when he sits down with Matt Lauer for a prerecorded interview on the US ‘Today’ program to make a formal announcement.
The motivation to go public with the news apparently comes on the back of former sexual partners threatening to take him to the courts after rumours started circulating. TMZ says Charlie had told several friends of his condition which he thought were confidants. Turns out people talk and the cat was let out of the bag. Several sources state that Sheen has settled some legal cases already with money in return for confidentiality agreements, however things could really spin out of control and get ugly as confirmation of his health goes public.
TMZ reports that Charlie has already settled several of the cases and, in return for money, got confidentiality agreements. Charlie Sheen has spent a fair bit of time out of the spotlight in recent months and according to his publicist, the forthcoming interview could really change some public perceptions towards the trouble actor and shed some light on some of his behaviour.
“The interview could open up a lot of sympathy for him, but he has to be concerned about a fear of litigation from former sexual partners. You don’t take that lightly.”
Here’s the infamous interview Charlie did with ABC News in February 2011.
