Charlotte Crosby Gave Birth On Camera And… Loved It?!
Charlotte Crosby is an absolute icon. I’ve loved her since her Geordie Shore days, and I was stoked about the chance to speak to her. Would she be as chaotic and unfiltered as she seems on TV? The answer is a resounding yes.
Her latest show Charlotte In Sunderland has just launched in Australia, and it gives you an honest glimpse into her life. She’s obviously grown up from her Geordie Shore days, and it tackles some heavy topics with ease.
We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to reality TV shows, but it feels like most of the drama is manufactured these days. IMO, shows like The Kardashians have become quite boring. Do we really need five episodes teasing Kourtney and Kim’s fight which doesn’t actually go anywhere?
In Charlotte’s new show, I was delighted by the sheer amount of things that actually happened. It was raw, real, and some of the rando phrases that come out of her mouth (in her incred Geordie accent) are pretty damn entertaining. Her saying that she always knew she was gonna be famous? Iconic.
“We’ve covered a year [of] my life, and I couldn’t have even [written] what happened that year,” she tells Punkee. “It was the lowest, but highest year of my life. To be pregnant throughout, and getting some of the worst news ever… it’s horrible to even think about.”
“It was just an absolute emotional roller coaster and I can’t believe some of the depths that I went to on that show, and [found] a side of me that I didn’t even know existed.”
Charlotte doesn’t have many boundaries – to have a camera crew present while giving birth in the hospital – not to mention sharing emotional conversations about her Nana’s death and mum’s breast cancer diagnosis on camera.
Of course, it was balanced with kooky moments, where she obsessed over a pair of orange gloves, got drenched during her baby shower, and my fave scene of all: when she pretended to be selling her Pepper Girls Club merch like a car boot saleswoman.
“Roll up, roll up!” will be seared into my brain ~forever~.
Here’s everything I learned from my chat with Charlotte, from the one reality show she’d never do, when her boyfriend is planning to pop the question, and what it was like to have a camera crew film her giving birth.
Is Charlotte Crosby on The Masked Singer Australia?
Charlotte, her boyfriend Jake and her daughter Alba were in Sydney earlier this year, and while she was there to do press for her new show, The Masked Singer Australia also happened to be filming. Convenient…
Obvi she’s not gonna come out and say she’s under the Space Fairy mask, so judge for yourself.
“There was a time I was in Australia, it was when there was lockdown, and everyone was saying I was on The Masked Singer… this time around, I’m not on The Masked Singer, everyone’s so obsessed with me being on [the show] every time I come to Australia,” she says. “I think I’ll probably come to Australia next year and everyone will say I’m on The Masked Singer again.”
Is this just her way of throwing me off the scent? Hmm.
Does Charlotte Crosby want to do any other reality TV shows in Australia? Say, perhaps… MAFS?
Getting the Geordie icon on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was a stroke of genius, and I think I speak for all of Australia when I say, we need to get her back.
“I obviously would love to do reality in Australia [again],” she tells us. “I love it, but I just think in terms of I’ve got a family now and obviously my little girl. I think it would be a struggle… I don’t know whether I could physically do it.”
She’s so loved-up with her new partner Jake, so we’ve defs a missed opportunity to have Charlotte join a Married at First Sight: Celebrity Edition (I know it doesn’t exist, but a girl can dream). Sadly, it doesn’t sound like that’s on the cards, because it’s the one show she refuses to do.
“I’ve done dating shows in England and I’ve always said I will never do another dating show. I cannot be f**king arsed,” she declares. “I would definitely not do MAFS where you get married.”
Did Charlotte Crosby really have a camera crew present for Alba’s birth?
You’d expect someone to be awkward, nervous or apprehensive about having a literal camera crew filming you giving birth, but Charlotte actually loved it. I know, it’s weird, but it almost makes sense when she describes the moment.
“The crew were there in the [hospital] room and we were like, ‘God this is it, it’s really happening’. It felt like I was at work, so that made us not nervous,” she tells us. “It was so bizarre, but it was the most magical thing, and I think having the crew made it more magical for some reason.”
I assumed the crew had been working with Charlotte on her various reality TV shows over the years, but it turns out that she hadn’t worked with them before Charlotte In Sunderland. This woman continues to baffle and amaze me.
“It was two new people, so I didn’t know them that well really. We had done a lot of filming together and I do really love David and Matt, who were there for the birth,” she says. “They weren’t like [some] crew members I’ve worked with for five, six years of my life… but I do really love them.”
Is Charlotte Crosby’s boyfriend Jake going to propose soon?
It’s actually quite sweet to see Charlotte finally smitten, but everyone is wondering when we’ll get a Charlotte In Sunderland wedding. While she’s said in previous interviews that she thought Jake might pop the question at the end of 2023, the chances of that have dwindled down to almost zero.
“He’s definitely not planning anything, [but] he’s definitely not told me because that would ruin the surprise,” she tells us. “I’ve always said I would love a proposal this year, I thought maybe it’d be by the end [of the year], but I don’t think he will.”
The reality TV star thinks he might propose next year, and she’s already given him some pretty big hints.
“I’ve showed him the ring. That’s why I don’t think it’s happening because it would take a while for the ring to get made, and I change my mind every week. I only recently showed him the newest ring,” she adds.
At the moment, she’s wanting a gold ring and a pear drop yellow stone. Hurry up Jake, I NEED to see Charlotte’s fairytale wedding.
Charlotte In Sunderland premieres Thursday August 17 on BINGE, with new episodes dropping weekly.
