Your Imaginary Boyfriend Chris Hemsworth Will Probz Star In New ‘Men In Black’ Reboot
Goodbye Thor, hello Agent C. Chris Hemsworth is reportedly up to star in the new Men In Black movie, which is set to hit theatres in 2019.
Hemsworth is about to come out of his huge Marvel studios contract. By the time he’s done with 2019’s Avengers movie, he will have starred in seven films in the Marvel universe.
And according to Variety, he’s set to slot straight into the rebooted Men in Black franchise.
It’s no surprise he’s in line for the MiB gig: with the hilarious Taika Waititi at the helm of Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth was able to show off the comedic chops that should fit neatly into the new franchise.
The news comes 20 years after the Men In Black series kicked off, with original stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, who won’t be returning for the new MiB films. The original series featured three films, following Agent K (Smith) and Agent D (Jones) as they fought aliens, erased memories and saved the world.
All we know about the plot and casting for the reboot so far is that there will be a main white character, a key black woman, and an older man. There were rumours that the writers would attempt to crossover the movie with the Jump Street films, but those plans have been axed.
The reprise will also mix up the location: it’ll be set in London for the first time.
The movie has a killer production team lined up. F. Gary Gray, the director of Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job and The Fate of the Furious, will be directing. Steven Spielberg is executive producing, and the writers behind Iron Man — Matt Holloway and Art Marcum — are working on the script at the moment.
