A Special Burger Sauce Flavoured Hot Cross Bun Is Here To Destroy Easter
Back in 2018, there was a huge debate about when bakeries and supermarkets should start selling hot cross buns, but now the foodies are fighting over what flavour hot cross buns should be after Coles dropped the treat with a unique twist.
In case you’re not in the know with foodie news, Coles has just dropped a special burger sauce hot cross bun, and we honestly don’t know how to feel. The item is described by Coles as: “Special burger sauce flavoured soft buns with gherkin pieces, topped with indulgent, tasty cheese.”
Umm. Who did this? Who pitched this?
Look, NGL, I am a pickle girly, but not in hot cross buns! We’re already fighting for our lives trying to get rid of all the raisins from the OG ones, we don’t need to be picking pickles out of them as well.
Facebook page, The Grocery Geek AU, posted the abomination tasty Easter treat, and the page has received a mixture of reactions, with some people wanting to give the unique buns a try, and others gagging.
One Facebook comment even said, “it’s not even April fools yet.” Another one suggested that the bizarre take on the buns would taste like a savoury toastie.
Alongside this kooky hot cross bun launch, Coles also brought out other flavours including red velvet, carrot and Vegemite, which has been reviewed by Aussie foodie TikToker, @Russ.eats.
He rated the Vegemite buns a 5/10.

I know that you should always try things before you judge them, but these are possibly a hard pass.
It’s giving stale burger vibes after a big night out in the city.
