Ever wondered how airlines shoot those awesome sweeping panoramas of their planes mid-flight? I did once, quickly concluding that it would be a complete waste of money and time if someone wasn’t just whipping that together with some sweet CGI skills. Well, apparently that’s not how the pros do it.

Filming Airplane Commercial

Exhibit A over the motherland

The crew behind AirLive.net released incredible spine tingling behind-the-scenes footage of an Emirates Airlines ad this week showing what it takes to get the ‘money shot’. It’s all kinds of nope.

The video shot over Dubai is filmed from an aircraft as it flies terrifyingly close to an A380 several meters below it. The tail of the Airbus looks to be almost within arms reach. There’s not even a whimper of excitement from the camera crew who just go about their completely inefficient but very cool job.
